All different kinds of consciousness

You are so much more than an intelligent machine. There is more than one type of consciousness in you, and you can access them all – via your intuitive senses.

Your intuition is your entry point to all different kinds of consciousness in you which are similar to – but different from – your rational intelligence.

In some of the more brain-centered coaching styles, intuition is addressed only as this nebulous thing, as this “hunch” or “gut feeling”. But your understanding of your various layers of consciousness can be as clear as your analytical thinking, if you’ve learned how to properly access those layers. There is no guessing involved. When you know what you’re doing (and with the right support), you will experience this as a dialogue between your rational mind and your inner wisdom.

Which is why I don’t subscribe to a coaching-only approach if you want deep transformation. And which is why I’ve always included intuitive guidance and energy work into my Sessions.

Nature has equipped you with various levels of consciousness because our brain was never meant to be the sole solution finder in times of crisis.

All of your consciousness levels are part of your unique Inner Wisdom System, and all of them are here to help you: Your body’s wisdom, your past selves, your future self, your higher self, your Guides, your subtle energy bodies, your heart, your soul, etc. – you can talk to them all. And they all have answers to your deepest questions.

Quiz: Who is in your inner circle?

Polarities are a normal thing in relationships. It means that you can differentiate the people in your life depending on where they stand, relative to you – emotionally speaking, and when it comes to both of your souls: Are they far away (on an imaginary pole on the opposite side of the globe, so to speak), are they very close to you, or are they somewhere in mid-distance?

Far away would translate to “I wouldn’t speak to them even if we were the last people on earth”.

Close by would mean “I can easily imagine spending the rest of my life with this person (as romantic partners, friends, or business partners, etc.).”

And mid-distance would mean “I can’t say I’m really interested in that person, but they’re ok, I guess.”

This polarity between us is a spectrum ranging from incompatible relationships to true soul mates, and only very few people in your life actually exist on either extreme. Most of the folks you spend your time with are probably somewhere in mid-distance: Not completely incompatible with who you are, but not a member of your inner circle, either.

(By the way: What I find really interesting about this phenomenon is that this kind of polarity only ever mirrors back the very subjective relationship between two souls. And that each person builds their own pole. In other words: This thing cannot be transferred onto groups. There is no “us versus them” dynamic here. Only “You and I: Do we actually like each other?”)

Because most of us are very polite, we often spend a lot of time trying to appeal to those who are mid-distance or even incompatible to us.

But there’s a problem: These people are just as indifferent to you as you are to them.

Which means that the more energy you spend trying to convince them of your nice-ness, your competence, and your coolness, the less time you have to spend with those you don’t actually have to convince of anything, because they already like you: Your soul mates. Your inner circle. Those humans who energize you, who love you, trust you, respect everything about you. Those who would love to spend more time with you on your pole. Because your pole happens to be compatible with theirs.

Those are the people who love you – platonically, romantically, or in that beautiful co-creative way.

Those with whom you can feel that you can be yourself, and that you belong.

Those who admire your strengths and who would love to create extraordinary projects and relationships with you.

Below is a little quiz for you to help you sound out how this polarity shows up in your relationships, and to help you figure out who in your life is part of your inner circle.

Per round, pick on person in your mind. Answer each question with Yes or No, and see what comes up.

If your answer to a question is neither Yes nor No, the person you are taking the quiz on is neither fully compatible, nor at an opposite pole from you – but your hesitance to reply with a clear Yes or No will give you more clarity.

Enjoy!

Take the Quiz: Who is in your inner circle?

  1. Are you and that person often engaged in wild discussions that make you feel like you have to prove to them that your needs and desires are valid?
  2. If you were able to swap places, would you want to see the world through their eyes for an hour?
  3. Do you often get angry when you think about that person?
  4. Do you find it difficult to talk to them about your professional successes or about your personal disappointments?
  5. Do you like looking into their eyes?
  6. Does your body relax when you are alone in a room with them?
  7. Do you think this person has remarkable talents that you would like to help boost, in some way?
  8. Are you extraordinarily happy when you see that person after a long time of being apart?
  9. Would you describe your conversations with that person as “unusually interesting”?
  10. Do you share an emotional bond with that person that lets you freely share your ideas and thoughts about the world with them, without feeling the need to hide any aspect of who you are?
  11. Has that person ever intentionally violated your boundaries in any way?
  12. Do you love, trust and respect that person unconditionally?

Key:

  1. (Yes: opposite pole / No: inner circle)
  2. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  3. (Yes: opposite pole / No: inner circle)
  4. (Yes: opposite pole / No: inner circle)
  5. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  6. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  7. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  8. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  9. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  10. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)
  11. (Yes: opposite pole / No: inner circle)
  12. (Yes: inner circle / No: opposite pole)

The subtle ways of your intuition

“You don’t need to wait for a full blown crisis before recognizing that there is a system of guidance that is always communicating with you and ultimately serving your highest and best. Slow down and listen. When you begin to listen to your intuition you will be able to side step so many relationships, situations, and experiences that create heartache.” – Maryam Hasnaa

Can you remember the ways in which you picked up on the latest piece of intuitive guidance that came your way?

Did you receive an inner download, informing you about your next best step? Did you experience a full-body sensation that felt like you “had to” walk in a certain direction, or talk to a particular person? Did you feel called by a subtle sensation to create something very specific and unique to you?

All of these experiences are channels your soul can choose to speak to you, and there are many more ways in which you can receive your inner wisdom. You may have heard of these four:

Clairaudience

is an inner hearing which detects intuitive audio messages. When you choose to channel your soul’s guidance through your clairaudience, your inner wisdom can come to you as single words, or as whole streams of sentences, or even as songs that are playing on a loop inside your mind. That is how my clairaudience often works: It will wake me up with a song on my mind, and as the day progresses, that song will eventually answer a question for me.

Claircognizance

is an intuitive sense which downloads information from your soul straight into your conscious mind, often while using non-verbal formats. Channeling information through your claircognizance means that you “just know” things, without receiving any imagery or audible messages, per se. It can be difficult to learn how to trust in this sense, at first. Being brought up in a modern society, many of us have been overloaded with so many verbal and visible messages streaming through our physical senses that the claircognizant way of knowing seems to be too subtle, sometimes. Nevertheless, messages coming through your claircognizance are just as precise as the ones coming in on the wings of an intuitive image or via a verbal message.

Clairsentience

is a clear inner perception which helps you to understand intuitive guidance via your body’s feelings and sensations. Channeling information through your clairsentience can get tricky if you are prone to enmeshing with the sensations other people are feeling. So, using this clair sense is always an invitation to set up clear energetic boundaries. I remember how when I started out with my Energy Work practice, I would feel everything my client was feeling, which became rather difficult for me – because it meant that I wasn’t clear on where my energy fields ended and where my client’s energies started. So, I had to learn how to differentiate between the energies that had to come through in order for me do understand my own guidance, and the energies that made me feel that I was moving too close to my client’s boundaries. In other words, even if your body is able to pick up on the most subtle sensations, it doesn’t mean you absolutely need to make yourself available to feel everything that is coming through. Allow yourself to set clear boundaries when it comes to this channel, and to limit the ways in which you want to receive messages through it, e.g. by stating that you do not want to channel through pain, or through physical tension.

Clairvoyance

is an inner seeing, and it means that your soul is communicating with you by sending images into your third eye. When your clairvoyance is one of your main channels, it takes a certain amount of practice to learn how to differentiate between your imagination and your soul’s intuitive guidance. That’s because when you imagine things, these made-up images tend to come in through your third eye, too – just as intuitive images do. However, the images you receive from your soul are alive. In other words, at some point you will notice that these intuitive images start to behave in ways you wouldn’t have imagined, sending you signs and symbols to clearly let you know that they are talking to you. Allowing those intuitive images to play out their messages without interrupting them – nor moving back into your imagination – is how you can learn how to discern your intuitive guidance from fantasy.

Some more subtle ways of perceiving

There are many more, even subtler ways of perceiving, which sometimes use senses we tend to not be very familiar with:

For example, there is a way of understanding dreams as messages, and some of us even have the ability to communicate with their soul through dream consciousness, as if they were talking to a good friend.

Or, there is this thing where a certain spaciousness opens up around you, which seems to be untied to this Earth and its physicality – and this spaciousness can send you clear messages through perceptions that are not feelings, per se, but something even more subtle. As a child, I would often drift into this space just before I went to sleep, and it took me a long time to understand all the ways in which this space was sending my soul’s messages to me.

And then, there is an inner sense which can pick up on messages through your connection with the elements of this planet, which means that you can receive guidance through fire, water, earth or air.

And so on.

The list of intuitive senses through which we can perceive soul-guidance is probably endless. Clairaudience, clairvoyance, claircognizance and clairsentience are just the most common ones.

Try this:

Next time you are picking up on an intuitive hit, become curious: Which channel did that piece of guidance use to get to you? Which of your clair senses were involved? Was it just one of your inner senses, or a combination of two or more?

Did you hear a voice?

Did you see an image?

Did you feel a sensation?

Did your mind download a piece of knowledge?

Did you receive guidance in some other way?

Which of your clair senses feels like the one your soul is using most often to send you messages?

Could you allow that clair sense to open up just a tiny bit more?

Also, which permission would you need to give yourself so you could take your intuitive hits (more) seriously?

Stay curious. Ask your soul to help you recognise your channels clearly. And then ask your soul to show you what you need to know, today, to get to where you want to be.

If you need any help with understanding your clair senses, contact me. It’s a big part of my work to help you sense-see-feel which of your intuitive channels have been waiting to open up more for you.

How long until I’m fully healed?

Healing doesn’t happen over night. Until it does.

We evolve in spirals. Arriving at the same point of realisation, again and again. Once you’ve decided to do some inner work, that same realisation will look more polished, and sparklier, and more interesting, after every round. It will start to feel like relief, and crispness, and freedom. Because every time you arrive anew, you will see a new possibility for choosing a sweeter mode of being where there was none, before.

And all of the internal shifts you have taken will have been necessary stepping stones for you to arrive at this exact view point.

And all of the energy blocks you have released along the way will have made lifting yourself up those steps easier and easier.

And all of those late nights when all you could do was to inch your way through this obstacle course called life, will have been life-giving.

As you keep doing your inner work, you will notice how, at some point, an old emotional wound will have healed. As if over night. And you will find that you’ve moved yourself another round up the spiral.

Healing your inner children

Healing yourself can start by healing your younger selves. Give your inner children – of all ages – the love and care and truth and beauty they were missing, growing up. Take their needs seriously, and let them share their strengths with you.

Ask your inner two-year-old about boundaries. She knows all about that No.

Let your inner four-year-old show you how her Guides, Angels and Healing Beings are helping her cope, in this strange world we are living in.

Let your inner seven-year-old decide who she wants to be friends with. She knows how to read her heart.

Ask your inner 12-year-old if she would like to share her deep thoughts with you.

And let your inner 17-year-old tell you about all the ways she would like to express her soul and herself.

Here’s another sweet practice you can try:

Use your imagination to build each of your younger selves a new home, and let them furnish and decorate their new places in any way they choose. Don’t judge them for what they want to put into their new rooms, and watch how they express themselves through interior design. See how they carefully place their most cherished items within reach, and sense-see-feel how much love goes into each decision. Let them make themselves comfortable, and give them room to explore and to change anything they like, as often as they like.

It’s your imagination, where everything is possible – and where your younger selves can fully be themselves.

Enjoy!

And if you need any help with this, let’s work together.
Helping your younger selves heal is part of what I do.

How to hold your inner strength

The more things are being driven into chaos all around us, the more important it is for each of us to be able to draw from our own inner strength. And because there is so much violence and fear that is getting swirled up, it can be difficult to access that kind of strength within ourselves.

Holding (and using) your spiritual strength is like the ability to control your breathing: It is like using all of those small muscles in your torso to draw in a full deep breath, expanding your ribcage and your belly, and to then let your lungs let out the air again, in a steady and controlled stream, until your solar plexus softens and gets ready to draw the next breath in.

Some energetic part of you knows how to pull your inner strength into yourself, how to hold it, and how to then release it and use it, in a very deliberate way.

For some of us, using our spiritual power means to hold our ground in a heated argument and to channel peace – even though we’re scared – and to direct all parties involved towards focusing on a specific solution to a specific problem.

For some of us, using our spiritual power means to move with our creative instincts and to keep working on a project until it feels right, before we release it – even though fear would rather have us put out a half-finished version, instead, just to be done with it.

For some of us, using our spiritual power means to trust our intuitive senses and to gently hold space when our relationship grids are evolving into a new direction, even when our PTSD triggers would have us fall into fight, flight, freeze or fawn at the slightest sign of distress.

For many of us, it is very difficult to reconnect to that kind of inner strength.

We try to take a deep breath inwards, but our diaphragm keeps trembling, and it feels like our lungs are not filling up the way we would need them to.

And we try to push our fear-based stress responses against an ever-changing world, because we haven’t learned how to trust ourselves.

We can’t remember what it is like to let our spiritual muscles hold us, move us, keep us safe.

Try this

Developing your ability to draw from your inner spiritual strength takes practice. And you won’t be able to get there by yourself. We need each other to become ourselves. So, here are my two cents: A list of transformational practices that can help you hold your inner strength – and if you need support with any of those practices, contact me. It’s what I do.

  • Develop a daily spiritual practice that makes sense to you, and keep it up.
  • Do the necessary healing work and release as much personal and collective trauma from your system as possible, until you feel like yourself again. This is the most difficult part. And unfortunately, it will cost you: Time, energy, money, sometimes relationships, and many illusions.
  • Rebuild your personal boundaries – on an energetic level first, and then through action and words. Be mindful of what you will and won’t allow to happen in your relationships with other people, and be as good a friend to yourself as you are a friend to those you love.
  • Learn how to hold your personal space, and use your breath and your intent to regularly center and ground yourself into that line of light that flows up and down your spine, down through the heart of earth, and up through the center of your soul – in an endless loop, going up and down. It is your lifeline to the love and nourishment coming to you from Earth, and it is a direct hotline to your soul’s intuitive wisdom and power.
  • Get clear on who you are, at soul level, and then translate that expertise into your human life. This can be tricky, because we tend to be a bit blind to ourselves. So, find someone who can help you understand yourself. The clearer you get on who you are, the more you will be able to fully engage with your gifts and talents and bring them to life.
  • Stay focused on your own experience, and stay close to the people you trust.
  • Keep building a world you would like to live in. And find a bigger cause you can support, outside of what you can do, as an individual.
  • Don’t get discouraged if you can “only” work on one single issue to help create a better world. That one single issue will touch many lives. Keep it up. Ask your soul to let you know how you can use your creativity to unfold that one single issue, in the best way possible, and then fill it with life.

Do you need help with any of these practices? Contact me. It’s all part of my work.

A state of overwhelm

Over the past couple of months, I have taken some time to learn more about nervous system regulation, which can help to address states of shut-down and burn-out, triggered by chronic stress or PTSD.

And the more I learned, the more I could sense the deep feeling of overwhelm that seems to paralyse and frighten so many of us, sending us into low energy states and shut-down, or hightened energy states and burn-out, when it comes to the current developments on this planet. Some call it a “trauma-spell”, and it affects individuals as well as the collective.

We feel overwhelmed when it comes to the current crash of our natural environment, we feel overwhelmed when we observe the current political shifts towards far-right extremism, and on top of it all, there’s the overwhelm that shows up when we face difficulties in our personal lives – in our relationships with others, and in our relationship with ourselves.

And the more I learned about the energetic expressions of that overwhelm, the more I could also sense that working towards establishing a sense of self-trust, equilibrium and solution-orientedness can seem utterly impossible, when you’re in the thick of it.

Which is why, in every one of my client Sessions, I consciously apply Yogic meditative tools at the beginning of each Session (and sometimes throughout) to help my client get into a state of balance and ease, in order to help them tune into their intuitive guidance system.

Because in that state of balance, where we have access to our #innerwisdomsystem – that’s where we can sense-see solutions to what is keeping us shut down, or burned out. That’s where clarity lives.

Some simple self-regulating tools

When you find yourself in such a state of overwhelm, there are two quite simple things you can try: Singing, and dancing. Both singing and dancing can help to regulate low energy states and shut-down (i.e. hypoarousal), as well as hightened energy states and burn-out (i.e. hyperarousal).*

When you’re in a low energy state (i.e. when your autonomic nervous system feels frozen and shut down), your mind may be thinking thoughts like “I don’t know what to do, I don’t know where to start, it’s all too much”. Your body may feel paralysed and your head is probably quite foggy, eyelids heavy, focus: gone.

Try dancing.

It’s the simplest way to bring some warmth into your frozenness. If dancing seems to be too much of a stretch, start by wiggling your toes to a piece of music. HipHop or R&B are perfect for this. Get one part of your body to move to the music, then another. If you can, stand up and rhythmically shift your weight from one leg to the other, and back again. Left and right, left and right. Keep your knees slightly bent, and let your body become one with the rhythm. Keep moving, even if it’s difficult at first. Left, and right. Move for 10 minutes at a time, and see how you feel.

When you’re in a hightened energy state (i.e. when your autonomous nervous system is in fight-or-flight mode, racing towards burnout), you may be thinking thoughts like “There’s so much I need to do, I haven’t done enough, I can’t stop working, I have to do more”, and your body probably feels antsy and restless. Your eyes are wide open (too wide, actually), and your whole system feels stressed. Which is not the kind of mood that would usually have you burst into song. But that’s exactly what can help you get back into a state of equilibrium:

When you start to sing, you start to regulate your autonomic nervous system – if the style you’re singing in elongates your outward breath.

So, find a slow, gentle song that has you singing long phrases on long outward breaths. The mantra Ra Ma Da Sa by Snatam Kaur is perfect for this. Sing along for 10 minutes and see how you feel.

*P.S.: Obviously, these tips do not replace medical care nor therapy or healing modalities. Please contact your medical doctor, your mental healthcare specialist or your spiritual healer if your symptoms persist.

Your Inner Wisdom System

Some time ago, I created the hashtag #InnerWisdomSystem because I needed a container, online, to showcase some intuitive findings from my client Sessions, across social media. And over time, that small hashtag I have been using to channel and collect my findings has slowly formed into a nice clear capsule containing all those elements that make my work so interesting to me:

Elements like that part of your #InnerWisdomSystem which acts like a radar within your third eye, sending you clear energetic images when something’s off in a relationship, letting you know how to navigate around the places that would have you shipwrecked. And how to find the places where your soul-mates gather, instead.

Or, that part of your #InnerWisdomSystem that whispers dreams and songs and thought-loops and mantras to your inner ear to help you find the next pieces in your personal relationship puzzle.

Or, that part of your #InnerWisdomSystem that lets you feel for your heart’s energetic self-healing mechanisms in the dark, after a break-up, and which also comes with clear instructions (and a flashlight) on how to use these mechanisms, if you know where to look.

Your #InnerWisdomSystem is that part of you that sets off all the nervous alarms in your solar plexus when someone pushes against your sense of self, using systemic misogyny, or racism, or sexism, or or any kind of violence to try to strike fear in you. And your #InnerWisdomSystem is also that other part of you which will then always guide you towards your inner center, the source of your courage, and integrity, and self-protection, and new beginnings, if you know how to let yourself be guided.

Your #InnerWisdomSystem lets you sense-see-feel your soul’s past incarnations on this earth – the ones whose trauma and pain you are still carrying around in your subtle energy bodies – because it wants you to heal all those wounds that couldn’t heal, back then. And that same #InnerWisdomSystem will also gladly send you all those memories of your successful past lives – the ones who will want to teach you a thing or two about love, and connection, and freedom, and joy, if you are open to hear what they have to say.

Your #InnerWisdomSystem wraps your energy body in the softest sheets of soft fuzzy love as soon as you reach out your hands to ask your team of Guides, Angels and Healing Beings for help.

And your #InnerWisdomSystem then picks up on your team’s giggles and perspectives and tips and truths and sends their messages through your intuitive channels to reach you. Because what good would a whole band of cosmic helpers be if you couldn’t hear their wisdom.

Your beautiful, interconnected, super-conscious #InnerWisdomSystem knows how to solve your life’s mysteries, in any circumstance.

It’s an incredible thing.

How to love your differences

There’s a common problem that runs through many (love) relationships: That two people, who are very different from each other, feel stressed by being so different from each other.

Let’s say one of them is very spontaneous, has a thousand ideas, and wants to make every idea a reality, right away – no matter what.

And let’s say their partner is very calm and methodical, likes to plan ahead, and loves to apply their know-how in a very rational, diligent manner.

The problem starts when both of them try to adapt to each other. Person one will feel bad about their ideas, thinking they’re “too spontaneous”, and person two will feel like “the boring one” who constantly “overthinks things”.

The result: They both stop being there for each other, and they both feel like they’re not sexy enough for their partner.

Energetically, there’s a beautiful, elegant solution to this problem.

When you meditatively let yourself drop into the four mystical chambers of your heart, you can get a very direct, embodied experience of how you would really like to play, in your relationships.

(And I don’t mean your sex life – although your heart may give you some very detailed pieces of information about that part, too.)

Energetically, your heart can bring you to a place where you can be you, in a very relaxed way – and where you can keep being yourself, no matter who you’re with.

That’s because your heart deeply supports your individuality, and it can help you embody your individuality, fully.

Which means that once you have gone through this process inside your heart, your partner will experience you just the way you are. In all your glory.

Spoiler alert: You’re going to love being yourself.

If that sounds like something you would like to try:

My new Heart Truth program still has a couple of spots available, so if you would like to

  • get direct access to your inner truth
  • gain deep insights into the four big themes of your heart: Love, Wisdom, Strength and Vision
  • experience profound healing and transformation in these areas of your life
  • learn to love your individuality
  • and lay a foundation for being your own guide in these chaotic times,

my program might be for you.

Registration closes May 15, 2018* (the day after tomorrow).

Here are all the details.

And if you are interested, contact me here. We will start with a non-binding Intro Consultation via Zoom. (You won’t have to create your own account – all you need is a device that lets you do video conferences, e.g. your smart phone or a laptop that has a camera and a microphone.)

I look forward to our first conversation!

Love is not governed by the mind

The four subtle chambers of your heart hold deep wisdom for you. They also hold the patterns of your current relationship with love. And they know which energy medicine is needed in order for you to compassionately heal your relationship with love.

Hardly anyone of us grew up in an environment that was infused with actual love.

And the patterns our ancestors laid out before us do not work for the times we are living in.

Love is not governed by the mind, and yet, our minds often try to convince us that there must be a reasonable step-by-step guide that we can follow to be in love, and that there surely is such a thing as a “proven method” for us to master this game, once and for all.

The heart knows another way. It would like to take you inwards and lead you on a much more subtle journey, on a much more mystical ride than the mind would like love to be. The mind’s tools do not work in this realm.

To love and be loved means to let your heart lead you. And it means to be in true relationship with yourself, with the ones you want to spend your time with, and with the world as such – as brutal as it is, sometimes.

Contact me if you’d be interested in exploring the four mystical chambers of your heart and go on this ancient healing journey with me. I would be honoured to serve you in this way.
